Bardo Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026.
Bardo is an Android app that reads and narrates books (PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT and comics). It is developed by Facundo Ramallo, in Argentina.
What data Bardo collects
None. Bardo does not collect, store outside your phone, transmit or share any personal or usage data.
- There are no accounts and no sign-in.
- It never connects to any server: the published version has no internet permission.
- It includes no ads, no analytics and no tracking tools.
- It uses no artificial intelligence and no third-party services.
What it keeps on your phone
To work, Bardo stores in the app's private storage, on your device only: your library (the paths of the files you open and the folders you choose), reading progress, bookmarks, quotes, notes, lists, collections, reading statistics, the pronunciation dictionary and your settings. None of this leaves your phone unless you export it yourself with "Export my data", which creates a file you choose where to save.
Uninstalling Bardo deletes all of it.
Permissions
- Access to files and folders: only the ones you pick with Android's file picker, to open your books.
- Foreground service (media playback): to keep reading aloud with the screen locked.
Bardo uses your phone's text-to-speech engine (for example Google's or Samsung's). That engine is part of Android and has its own privacy policy.

Changes
If this policy changes, the date above is updated. As long as Bardo collects no data, there will be nothing to add.
